Notes of the Parish Council meeting held on November 13th 2002.

Potterne Conservation Area
A letter from Ian Lund, Conservation Officer Kennet District Council said that they had taken into account the Parish Councils comments but there would be no alteration to Parish boundaries at this stage.

Width of A360
Following a enquiry that Mr Hoddinott had made of Ringway Parkman as to whether the width of the A360 had been reduced in the area adjacent to Nafford House. Mr Robbins had replied that the carriageway had an average width of before and after the works of 5.9m and at the narrow section before and after of 5.3m. The narrow section will have additional road markings and signing installed. Unfortunately it was not possible to widen the road at this location because of the very restricted highway limits.

Potterne School Council, Making Safer Walking Group
A letter and map has been received from a group of children from Potterne School. This group have been looking at ways of making walking to school safer and have asked the Parish Council to consider allowing them to erect posters that they have made in strategic points along the A360. The Parish Council were impressed with the initiative shown and have forwarded a copy of the letter and map to the Chief Executive of Wiltshire County Council along with a letter of support.

Pathway on Court Hill
A letter from Wiltshire County Council to Mrs Anderson of Court Hill and copied to the Parish Council said that works were in hand to improve the raised footpath at Court Hill. Works to remove obstructing branches around the streetlight had already taken place.

Footpath 66 stile
A letter from a resident of Whistley Road asked the Parish Council to improve the stile on footpath 66. This is the stile where the Parish Council would like to place a kissing gate, but unfortunately the farmer is not amenable to this. The Clerk has contacted Esther Daly, the Rights of Way Warden to ask for her assistance in improving this stile, particularly the height.

Water pipe in Brownleaze Lane cemetery
This water pipe had need digging out and replacing following a water leak. Mr Merrett had been asked to do the work as a matter of urgency.

Parish Council Vacancy - Co-option
Following the resignation of Mrs Dawn Vernon, the Parish Council have advertised the vacancy, following the necessary statutory days advertisement to call an election, but no one has put their name forward for consideration.
