Notes of a meeting held by Potterne Parish Council on Wednesday, 9th July 2003

Several maintenance matters raised for the attention of Sarsen Housing Association will be addressed by them, but the land along the footpath leading from Silver Street to Coxhill Lane is not in their ownership. Mr Hoddinott will investigate the transfer of housing from Kennet District Council to Sarsen to see if the land adjacent to the housing estate was transferred at the same time.

Hedge cutting were being dumped in Tollbar Lane and Kennet District Council will be contacted to ask for their assistance. .

The provision of houses at a price or rent local people can afford has been an issue in Kennet for some time. Kennet are promoting a policy that seeks to provide half of all new housing in rural areas and half of new housing on large housing sites are at affordable rents or market prices. A second draft document has been produced for consultation and comments are invited before 11th August.

Wicksteed Leisure, Play equipment specialist had informed Parish Councils of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 which the Parish Council discussed. It was thought that if a need arose in the village for specialist equipment for a child with a specific disability consideration would certainly be given to provide equipment that would aid that child.

A letter signed by a number of residents in the area of Blackberry Lane and Crown Place had been received asking for assistance following an incident with a motorcyclist. A motorcyclist had driven through the pathway from Crown Place to Blackberry Lane where a few minutes' earlier young children had been playing. The Parish Council will write to Wiltshire County Council asking them to erect barriers as this was not the first time an incident like this had occurred.

Mr William McCormick of Highlands and Mr Bruce Bringloe of Blounts Court had put their names forward for co-option onto the Parish Council to fill the two vacancies. After discussion it was unanimously agreed to co-opt both of these gentleman and ask them to attend the next Council meeting in August.
