Notes of Potterne Parish Council meeting held on Wednesday, 11th June 2003 in Potterne Village Hall at 7.30pm

Bus shelters:

There has been no further information concerning the provision of bus shelters and the Clerk will contact Parkman for an update.

Housing Survey: the Parish Council will delay carrying out a housing needs survey because Mrs Coulson of the Church is carrying out a survey on general needs of the village. The Parish Council will endeavour to carry out a survey in September

Property department Salisbury Diocese re Highlands Wall: A photocopy of the plan to the Conveyance of 13th March 1951 to Mr R Hamblen re the building of Highlands was provided for the parish Councils information to help establish the ownership of the wall adjacent to the A360. This matter will be discussed at a later date.

Wiltshire Highways Partnership re Urchfont Embankment: A copy letter from Wiltshire Highways Partnership to McAlpines had been received for the Parish Councils information. The letter stated that considerable damage had been caused by extensive use of heavy lorries delivering bulk stone to the site. Immediate remedial works have been requested.

Tree outside of 22 Blackberry Lane: The tree in the ownership of Sarsen Housing is need of cutting back as it is causing a problem to residents, with thorny branches overhanging the footpath. The Clerk will write to Sarsen.

Lane between Silver Street and Coxhill Lane: There has been a landslide onto the footpath. The Clerk will phone Clarence and ask for this to be cleared. Steps leading to St Marys at the Butts: Overhanging foliage and weed is causing a problem for pedestrians. The Clerk will write to Sarsen Housing Association and ask for remedial action.

Footpath by the Old Police House, Court Hill: This path is in need of clearing to show the tarmac surface again. Mr Hoddinott and Mr Hobbs will have a look to see what could be done to improve this path.

Blounts Court Play Area Fence: This fence has been vandalised over a period of time and is in need of replacing. The Clerk was asked to contact the Parishes Insurers, Cornhill, to try and make a claim through the policy.

Wiltshire Association of Local Councils nominations onto the Executive Committee: It was proposed by the Parish Council that Mr Hoddinott be nominated again to stand on this Committee. Mr Hoddinott agreed and his name will be put forward for nomination.

Cemetery maintenance : Mrs Goddard thanked all of those that helped on the evening 3rd June with the tidying up of Brownleaze cemetery.

Kennet District Council have granted planning permissions for :
K/045217 A N Shaw Chapel & Schoolroom, Mill Road .Conversion to one residential dwelling (amendment to K/02750)
K/045259 Mr & Mrs D Brisker Butts Farm, Potterne Erection of a detached garage utilizing existing drive

Planning Appeal: The hearing date for the Bell Public House has been set as 11th November 2003 in the Village Hall, Potterne. Mr Hoddinott will be there on behalf of the Parish.

Parish Lengthsmen: Priority for work for the next visit of the Parish Lengthsmen was discussed and agreed. (a) Highlands Wall and overhanging vegetation (b) Blounts Court wall along A360 and overhanging vegetation (c) The Bash and the removal of weeds

Letter from resident re Tollbar Lane: A letter complaining that Tollbar Lane was impassable was noted and the Clerk will contact Clarence to ask for this area to receive attention. It was also pointed out that adjacent property owners were dumping rubbish here. The Clerk will contact Mr Hampton at Kennet District Council and ask for his assistance in clearing the area and also to write to the residents.

Co-option of Parish Councillors to fill two vacancies: There has been no interest in the vacancies despite advertising in the Parish Magazine, website and notice boards. Advertisements will remain in place.
