Notes of the Parish Council meeting held on January 8 2003 at 7:30pm in Potterne Village Hall.
Co-option of a Parish Councillor The Chairman welcomed Mrs Sandra Cutler to her first meeting as the newly co-opted of the Parish Council.
Wiltshire County Council Proposed Railtrack Works A reply from Wiltshire County Council to the Parish stated that the Highways Department would keep the village informed of any matters that might affect the parish with regards to the improvement to the embankment that crosses the Urchfont/Potterne road. The Clerk has asked for information on what traffic management measures are to be put into place, as many hundreds of lorry loads of stone will be needed on site. Highways have also been asked for their assurance that funds will be available for the maintenance of the roadway.
Two New Year Honours for village Both Chas Boyack and Richard Tickell have been honoured with an MBE for their services to the community. The Parish Council will write to acknowledge their achievement.
Information Technology funding Mr Bunce informed the Parish Council that the computer club were going to apply for additional funding from Kennet District Council.
Overgrown hedges, Whistley Road A resident from Whistley has asked the Parish Council to write to the land owners of some overgrown hedges that are causing a problem to both pedestrians and motorists alike.
Blounts Court pavements Mrs Fielding reported that the pavements on Blounts Courts had become overgrown with moss and were very slippery. The Clerk will report these through Clarence.
Ryeleaze steps Leaves were again causing a problem on this steps that lead down to the A360. The Clerk will report this through Clarence.
